Apply to be a personal care attendant
Applying takes one phone call. We will tell you what happens next, what paperwork is involved, and roughly how long screening takes.
How to apply
Call (314) 809-6655 — the fastest route. Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central.
Text (314) 886-5902 with your name and the best time to reach you, and we will call you back.
Email info@communicareelite.com with your name, phone number and the area of St. Louis you can work in.
Do not send personal identifiers by text or email — no Social Security number, no date of birth, no driver’s license number, no health information. Text and email are not secure. We will collect what we need properly once we speak.
Tell us these things when you call
- Your name and a phone number that reaches you.
- Whether you already have someone you will be caring for, or want to be matched.
- Which parts of the St. Louis area you can reliably travel to.
- Roughly how many hours a week you can commit to.
- Whether you drive and have a vehicle available.
- Any caregiving experience — useful, though not required.
What happens after you apply
- We talk. A short conversation about what you are looking for and what the work involves.
- Paperwork. Employment forms, tax withholding forms and identity/work authorization documents.
- Background screening. Required before you may work. This is usually the longest step. What is checked.
- Orientation. What the job covers, what it does not, how timesheets and EVV work, and your obligations under the program.
- Matching, if you need it. If you are not already hired by someone, we introduce you to consumers who are looking. They make the hiring decision.
- Start work. Once you are cleared, onboarded, and hired by a consumer with an authorized care plan.
An honest note about timing. Two things gate your start date and neither is fully in our control: your background screening, and whether the person you will care for has an authorized care plan from the state. We will tell you where you stand rather than string you along.
If you already have someone to care for
Say so on the first call. If they are not yet enrolled in CDS, they will need an assessment from the Department of Health and Senior Services first — we can walk both of you through it, and start your screening in parallel so nothing waits in sequence.
